Ms. Maegan Skoubo was selected recently as the Regional Teacher of the Year for 2015-16. Our region includes 44 school districts in Pacific, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason and North Thurston counties. Ms. Skoubo was recognized for having demonstrated the highest level of commitment to the teaching profession and the significant contributions made to the lives of her students.
Later this month, Ms. Skoubo will travel to the Experimental Music Project in Seattle to be recognized, along with the other 8 Regional winners in the state. A state winner will be selected from those nine teachers; that state winner will then compete at the national level.
Staff and students know Ms. Skoubo as “that teacher who is always smiling.” She teaches math to 7th- and 8th-graders and does everything she can to make math relevant and interesting. In addition, she works with Ms. Terri Webber as a cheerleading coach and works with her husband to raise an active elementary student.
Her selection is both an honor and tribute to Maegan’s great work and dedication. As a District, we are very proud to have her represent us within our region and as our representative to the state.
