English 1 Daily Journal April 28-June 10

We are living in unprecedented and uncertain times.  When something unusual and monumental happens, it’s a wonderful idea to document our thoughts and feelings. Getting ideas on paper, and remembering what we have to be grateful for, helps us to manage our worries and emotions; it also enables us to remember everything we have gone through after the ordeal is over.  

 

You are going to keep a daily journal.   

April 28th–June 10th (not weekends or holidays)

Every day:

  1. You will list two things you did. 
    1. Do not list “sleep” and “eat”
    2. These do not need to be complete sentences.
  2. You will list two things you’re grateful for
    1. Be specific.
    2. These do not need to be complete sentences.
  3. You will write a response to a daily prompt or question.
    1. The response must be complete sentences (at least 8)
      1. Creative
      2. Freshman level
      3. Figurative language 
      4. Best effort/conventions
      5. Single spaced 
      6. Font of choice (try not to go down to next page)
      7. Only read by me

How will the journal be evaluated?

  1. Completed by 3:00 every day
  2. Checked by me for completion
  3. Graded every day and entered in Skyward
    1. Graded on criteria 1-6 above 
    2. If you earn less than a 4, I will email you to offer advice on improvement.

 

There is no need to email me anything. I will check this shared journal every day. 

Do only one journal entry per day.
